[ad. L. obtrītus, pa. pple. of obterĕre to bruise, crush.]
Worn, bruised; trodden under foot (Blount Glossogr. 1656). Hence obˈtrition, ‘a bruising, or wearing away against anything’ (Phillips, 1658).
